ABOUT ASIAN LUTHERAN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE (ALIC)
Asian Lutheran International Conference (ALIC) is a network emerged out of the Association of Asians and Pacific Islanders of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, (AAPI-ELCA). Because of cultural and linguistic bonds, Asians in the ELCA and Asia looked for opportunity to engage in theological reflection relevant to their cultural backgrounds and ministries.
Five conferences have been organized from 1999-2009:
1. Asian Lutheranism: Which Way; February 1999, Hong Kong, China
2. Asian Ministries: Challenges and Opportunities, February 2001,
Bangkok, Thailand
3. Transforming Asian Ministries, February 2004, Bangkok, Thailand
4. Asian Ministries in Contemporary Context, February 2007, Bangkok, Thailand
5. Asian Mission in Changing Contexts, February, 2009Hong Kong, China
Asian Lutheran International Conference is the first and the only network that brings Asians from ELCA and Asians from Asia together for fellowship, networking, theological discussion and sharing of mutual concern in ministry.
The Asian Lutheran International Conference has been organized by the Association of Asians and Pacific Islanders-ELCA an association recognized by the ELCA through its Multicultural Ministries unit.
